Boulder Media is an Irish animation company based in Dublin. The company was established in 2000 and since then we have gone on to become one of Ireland’s largest animation studios, attracting high profile projects from across the globe and working with leading broadcasters such as Cartoon Network US (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends), Nickelodeon (El Tigre) the BBC (Funky Fables), and most recently a commission from Disney Europe to produce their first original feature Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja.
Throughout all of these larger productions we have still found time to produce almost a dozen pilots for Disney, Film Roman and the BBC. As well as nurturing our own talented crew by investing in many in-house short films, which have gone on to be screened at film festivals around the world.
In 2007 our Creative Director, Robert Cullen; was nominated for an Emmy for his work on Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. And in 2008 one of our animators, Monica Kennedy; was nominated for an ANNIE (the Oscars for animation), for Outstanding Character Animation in a TV Series for El Tigre.
The Amazing World of Gumball, co-produced by Boulder Media, has been a huge success story with nominations at The Broadcast Awards, The IFTAs and most recently The RTS Awards.
In addition to our nominations we have been lucky enough to scoop up wins with Gumball for Animation and Writing at the 2011 British Academy Children's Awards, Best Animated Television Production – Children at the 39th Annual Annie Awards, Best Animated Series, Best Animation 2012 and Viewers Choice Best Kids Programme 2012 at the Kidscreen Awards 2012, Best Childrens Series and The Childrens Choice Award in the British Animation Awards 2012 and most recently the Pulcinella Award for Best TV Series for Kids at the Cartoons by the Bay Awards.
