We’ve been very excited and proud here at Boulder Media since the news of Gumballs double Childrens Bafta win on Sunday and it seems we’re not the only ones ……
With many mentions online and articles in todays Irish Times and Irish Daily Mail plus a visit from the Six One News crew yesterday there has certainly been a buzz about Boulder!
The 2 minute segment from RTE News can be seen on RTE Player and features interviews with our very own Anne Tweedy and Robert Cullen.

Its been a joyful day here at Boulder Towers with the brilliant news of our double win at The Childrens Baftas last night.
The Amazing World of Gumball swept the boards with wins in both the Best Animation and Best Writer categories.
The series was the first original production by Cartoon Network Europe co-produced by Boulder Media and Dandelion Productions and in association with Studio Soi and we hope the accolades bring even more great projects to Irish shores.

The nominees for the 2012 Broadcast Awards have just been published and we are delighted to announce that The Amazing World of Gumball has been nominated in the best Childrens Programme category!
With more nominees than ever to be considered this looks to be the toughest year yet and Gumball faces stiff competition from other childrens favourites Grizzly Tales, Horrible Histories, House of Anubis, The Itch of the Golden Nit and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Last years winner in this category was the star studded BBC One adaptation of The Gruffalo which was produced by Magic Light Pictures in association with our Gumball cohorts Studio Soi. So heres hoping they have the winning formula to make it two in a row!
The awards will be held on the 2nd of February 2012 and with the Childrens Baftas this weekend and this brand new nomination we are finding it hard to get our work done with so many fingers crossed!
Ed Smith here, I’m Boulders Head of Post Production.
I’ll be giving a Guest Lecture to animation students at the Irish School of Animation out in Ballyfermot on Wednesday 23rd November at 10:30 to 13:30. This will be the third lecture I’ve done in Ballyfermot and I’m always excited for the opportunity to meet with the animation students out there, and hopefully help to solve some of their production headaches.
This time around I’ll be focusing primarily on the role pre-production plays during the course of production in general, but especially on how the pre-production process can flow into post, and (when it’s done properly) can save significant time and effort.
I’ll be giving examples of real-life production workflows that we use here in Boulder: starting from script and board, through to animatic, BG, animation, compositing and final edit. I’m hoping this will result in students having a better overall picture of their project from the start, while at the same time giving them an easy way to show current progress to anyone who’s interested… which is probably only going to be tutors…or their mammy maybe.
Hope to see you there.
Mipcom descended on Cannes for yet another year last month.
From the 8 – 11th of October the who’s who of the tv and film production world converged on Cannes sunny shore to talk serious shop.
Officially launching at MIPJr was The Amazing World of Gumball. This is Cartoon Network Europes first original production and with a second series already commissioned and the show rating number 1 in its timeslot on Cartoon Network expect to see lots more of Gumball and Co. in the future!
Yes people the 2011 Childrens Baftas will be held on the 27th November in Londons Hilton Park Lane and we are proud to announce The Amazing World of Gumball had been nominated in the Animation category!
Also nominated in this category are Grizzly Tales, Muddle Earth and Pet Squad.
Meanwhile the writers of Gumball James Lamont and Jon Foster have also been nominated for their work on the series
We wish everyone nominated the best of luck but are quite obviously rooting for Gumball, go Boulder!!
